Added

  • The Project tool window now has a visual Map navigator. A Tree/Map switch preserves the existing file-management tree while offering a Canvas hierarchy with branch-aware Miller-style columns, pan, pointer- centered mouse-wheel zoom, mouse and keyboard navigation, and filters for open, modified, Git-changed, and file-type working sets. Each column has its own live name filter, default-on hidden-file checkbox, and item count, uses the Project tree’s folder-first case-insensitive ordering, and expands to fit its longest name without truncation. Columns can be repositioned by their headers, pinned against accidental movement, and closed independently. Opening another folder from the same parent retains the existing branch in a separate non-overlapping column; new columns stay beyond their parent in the selected flow direction and center on the item that opened them when space permits. Fit/center controls, automatic initial framing, selectable left-to-right, right-to-left, top-to-bottom, and bottom-to-top flows with matching connector geometry and arrow-key semantics, a compact overview, selected-path highlighting, breadcrumbs, Back/Forward history, Page Up/Down, Backspace-to-parent, Alt-Left/Right history, and slash-to-filter make large projects practical. Filtering fades unrelated nodes instead of removing their spatial context, and project scans remain bounded and off the JavaFX thread. Canvas nodes use the same themed folder and file-type glyphs as the traditional Project tree, folders expand or collapse with one click, and files already open in editor tabs carry a prominent accent rail and label. Hover tooltips expose the full path, type, size, modification time, and relevant editor or Git status without filesystem work on the JavaFX thread. Right-clicking any map node opens the same file-management menu as the traditional tree, including New, Maven, rename/delete, reveal, terminal, Local History, and Git actions when applicable. File preview icons open movable, resizable, independently scrollable code cards beside their source columns; several files can remain previewed at once, each closes independently, and reopening a file focuses its existing card. Previews include syntax highlighting, current unsaved content for open buffers, enough initial width for long lines, context actions for copy, bookmarks, and Personal Notes, and an explicit action to open the full editor tab. The map can also print or export the complete laid-out canvas to PDF through the normal print-preview and configured PDF workflows.

Changed

  • Settled edit work now uses one timer sequence per buffer. Highlighting, live previews, completion, TODO scans, LSP synchronization, Undo History, lint, and AI completion retain their existing idle delays, but no longer keep separate ReactFX debounce pipelines. Disabled features do not arm timer milestones, and both sides of a split editor share the same document-level dispatcher.

  • Settled editor features now share one whole-document snapshot per revision. Syntax highlighting, folding, TODO and lint scans, LSP synchronization, previews, run-target detection, saves, and Undo History no longer ask RichTextFX to copy the same complete document independently after one edit burst. Each buffer invalidates its single cached snapshot on the next text edit; existing generation guards still reject stale background results.

  • Find in Files now has one clear visual toggle. Its duplicate tool-stripe icon has been removed in favor of the toolbar button, which now stays highlighted for as long as the Search tool window is open.

  • Text files open without blocking the window on disk I/O. Editora now shows the editor tab immediately for every text candidate, then stats, classifies, resolves EditorConfig/the charset, reads, and decodes on virtual threads before performing one JavaFX document insertion. This covers small files on slow mounts as well as large and remote files, and avoids resolving EditorConfig twice or walking its directories on the JavaFX thread. Files containing a 64 KiB-or-wider line enter a safe profile before insertion and split giant paragraphs into visually identical bounded text nodes, protecting minified/generated sources from pathological RichTextFX layout. Large-file safeguards are likewise active before insertion, heuristic folding no longer scans large documents after the load debounce, restored folds are computed once, and restoring several personal notes reuses one text snapshot instead of copying the document for every note.

  • Large CSV edits and live rendered previews stay responsive. Rainbow CSV span construction now runs off the JavaFX thread and discards stale results instead of rescanning and restyling the whole document in the typing pulse. DOT, PlantUML, and Typst previews now coalesce queued renders per editor surface, so a slow external renderer does not work through every obsolete intermediate revision after typing stops.

  • Preferences now use JSON instead of TOML. Global settings move from settings.toml to settings.json, and committed project toolchain overrides move to .editora/settings.json. Existing global TOML is converted automatically through the normal schema migrations and removed only after an atomic JSON write succeeds. Existing project TOML remains readable and is converted when Edit Project Settings is opened, so current installations and repositories keep their settings without maintaining TOML as an active configuration format.
